Vichy Dermablend: Skin Camouflage Make-Up
Tuesday, March 1st, 2011I was invited to attend the launch of Vichy Dermablend skin camouflage in Dublin Recently. Make-Up Artist Rhona Cullinane did a quick demonstration of a tattoo cover using the Dermablend Foundation Corrective Cream Stick which you can buy in Ireland for €21.50. Rhona is pictured here on the right hand side:
Here is the product set up for the demonstration:
Dermablend can help correct imperfections, even skin tone, angioma, vitiligo, rosacea, post operative scars, irregular pigmentation, tattoos, scarring and inflamationary acne. If you want to conceal anything, this product will last for 12 hours alone or 16 hours with their setting powder. It is hypo-allergenic, so it is good even for the most sensitive of skins.
The final result was not perfect, as you can see in the above picture. However Rhona did say that you have to give the product time to set before powdering. As she was doing such a quick demo she had to powder it straight away which meant that it appeared quite caked. So if you are trying this at home you should give the foundation a few minutes to “melt” into the skin before using the setting powder.
One thing I really loved about the demonstration was the way that Rhona chose the foundation colour. She placed all the colours of foundation onto a clear spatula, she then pressed this onto the skin. It was a quick and easy way of skin matching numerous colours at once. The one that just disappeared was obviously the one that she went with in the end.
I often have to do tattoo cover for my brides on their wedding days. I usually use Alcohol Based Make-up as it lasts all day. This could be a good alternative for sensitive skins. Unfortunately the sample that they gave me was too dark for most Irish skins, so I won’t be trying it out for the moment. If anyone tries this product and has some honest feedback I would love to hear from you.
