My Work: Coldlilies Autumn Winter 2012 Lookbook

As the saying goes, better late then never! I worked on this look book last year, but forgot to chase up the photos, so only remembered them when we met up to shoot the Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook :-)

Coldlilies 9

The idea for the shoot was a very clean crisp look. We wanted to keep it very natural with paired back hair and makeup.

Coldlilies 8

I was also looking after the male grooming for Brian, so we just did a light base with a natural side parted hair style.

Coldlilies 7

For Juudit we centre parted her hair for most of the shots, this look has been all over the catwalks of late…

Coldlilies 6

The jewellery really does speak for itself!

Coldlilies 5

She is just so stunning!

Coldlilies 4

Love the idea of jewellery for your back, this would be amazing if you had an open backless dress.

Coldlilies 3

I love these colourful bangles. Anyone that knows me, knows I love big bold jewellery, the larger the better!

Laura from Distinct Model Management

Hello my fellow beauty loving friends,

I hope you are keeping well and looking forward to Mothers Day this Sunday! You might remember last year I did a photoshoot with Coldlilies, the fashion professionals style-edit of the best independent jewellery designers’ collections. You can see the behind the scenes here and I will be posting the actual finished pictures from the shoot later this week.

Well we were at it again! This time we were shooting the Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook. Unfortunately the weather was brrr freezing! So the poor model Laura braved the elements all in the name of a good shot! Poor Brian was freezing too, but men never get as much sympathy do they :-)

Bare Your Soul – A Valentines Night with a Difference

Bare Your Soul

I was asked to do a photocall recently for a fantastic event that is taking place on Valentines night to raise funds for Turn2me and The Irish Heart Foundation. Turn2me is a charity which was set up by Oisin and Diarmuid Scollard who lost their brother Cormac to suicide in 2003. Turn2me.org is an online mental health community providing peer and professional support to people in distress. Trained moderators and counsellors provide free online forum and group supports as well as 1 to 1 counselling services for people suffering from all varieties of mental illness such as depression and anxiety and aims to prevent suicide whenever and wherever possible. It is a cause that is very close to my heart as I have friends and family that have been affected by both suicide and depression. Also in these times it is especially prevalent as people are finding it harder and harder to cope.

Here is the information about the event and if you would like to take part, visit www.give2go.ie and register now.

DARE TO ‘BARE YOUR SOUL’ ON A VALENTINE’S NIGHT WITH A DIFFERENCE

Turn2Me.org and The Irish Heart Foundation’s Nearly Naked Run

Fancy doing something a little bit different this Valentine’s Day? Turn2me.org and The Irish Heart Foundation are daring you to bare all (or even just a little bit!) on their 500 metre heart shaped track on the beach on Sandymount Strand from 7-8pm on the 14th Feb. Whatever you wear (or don’t wear) it’s all for a great cause.

It is for a charity that would be very close to my heart.

Valentines night is usually the night to wine and dine your loved one, however many couples choose to stay in on Valentine’s night rather than face packed restaurants of cooing couples. So if you are one of those couples who would rather avoid an evening of culinary coupledom or if you’re single here is your alternative option.

Oisin Scollard, Founder of turn2me.org which is an online mental health community providing peer and professional support to people in distress said “The short love heart distance takes only three minutes so anyone and everyone can take part and it can be walked, sprinted or crawled. Everyone will be encouraged to remove as much clothing as they feel comfortable with. Nudity IS encouraged and we will have a body painter on site for the brave nudies! We will also have hot drinks and blankets at the finish line for all participants”.

BARE YOUR SOUL charity run

Everyone interested in taking place must register with a deposit of €10 at www.give2go.ie and must also raise an additional €20 to take part. All money raised will be divided evenly between The Irish Heart Foundation and Turn2me.org.

“Turn2me will actively support lives, build lives and save lives at the times people need us most. The charity’s vision for the future is to create a world where mental health issues are acknowledged and accepted. Where every person in distress will feel confident to openly access the support services they need, safe in the knowledge that attitudes have changed based on a communal understanding and willingness to support each other.”

Nakjed Run for Charity

The Irish Heart Foundation thought this unique fundraiser was a fun fit for their charity. Aidan Stacey, Head of Fundraising at the Irish Heart Foundation said: “At the IHF we encourage young and old to get active for the good of their hearts and it is especially fitting to invite everyone to put their hearts into a fun run on Valentine’s evening. Normally our supporters wear their heart on their sleeve by donning our red t-shirts… but on this occasion, it’s all about baring not wearing!”.

Aidan continued “Bare Your Soul is not only a great opportunity to have the craic and get your heart pumping, it will also raise vital funds for two great causes. Remember every goose-bumpy step you take will raise money to support our work across research, health promotion, resuscitation training and patient support, all of which help us prevent more people developing heart disease and stroke, the biggest cause of death in Ireland.”

Registration is from 6pm-7pm with the first run taking place at 7pm and every 3 mins after that until 7.57pm.

I hope you can make it!

Lots of love,

My Work: Aria Look Book Spring/Summer 2013

Hello fellow beauty lovers!

So Sundays are when I will do a bit of shameless self promotion and share some of the work that I have been getting up to. Sometimes I get carried away with the normal day to day work and forget to share it with you.

So here is a shoot that I did last year for the clothing label Aria. I love this range of clothing as it is full of patterns and colour, my favourite things :-)

Wella Trendvision Report UK & Ireland 2012

Wella_Logo

Do you remember I was over in London a few months ago for the Wella Trendvision Hairdressing Competition? The wonderful Leandro employed me to be his make-up artist in the final for Ireland. Well he only went and won the competition!!

I thought I would share some of the images with you from the weekend. As well as the winning hair! I had a fantastic time with Leandro and Svetlana the talented mode/photographer/dress maker! Tune in for later blog posts when we collaborate on our own photoshoot!

Here I am in the airport about to jet off. Woke up with a dreadful cold!! So did not want to have my photo taken :-)

`In the Airport!

During the competition, some serious faces. Since then I have competed in my own competition, so I now know how nerve wrecking this is! I think everyone handled it very well!

Behind the Scenes: Coldlilies Shoot

Juudit Distinct Model Management IrelandColdlillies Photoshoot Make-up ArtistIrish Online Retailer of Designer JewelleryBehind the Scenes Jewellery Shoot

Here’s some behind the scenes photos from the Coldlilies shoot I did a couple of weeks back. These shots are from the instagram feed of Rosemary McCabe, who I love working with! We have teamed up on a number of photoshoots in the past and it is always a fun and interesting experience as she always regales me with interesting stories from twitter, the news or even her dog (who on this occasion had eaten a €20 note – haha, expensive taste!)

The shoot featured the stunning Juudit Siibak from Distinct Model Management, who has the prettiest features ever! The hair and make-up was kept very clean and with a slight nod to the early nineties with the brows being full and defined. Brian who isn’t pictured here, was kept tidy in the hair in a side sweeping coiffed, but his face had a five o’clock shadow. Skin was kept clean and fresh. I had also worked with Brian before on a fashion show.

The other team members I had never met before, but it is always fantastic to work with and meet new people. I am looking forward to seeing Sean’s shots as he is a very talented photographer, check out his website. The two owners of Coldlilies were also lovely. I was really happy to hear how they had totally changed their careers and decided to follow their passion having studied and worked in completely different jobs previous to starting the company.   It is great that they are supporting Irish designers, so if you are looking for inspiration for Christmas Gifts be sure to pay them a visit.

Arianna Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

You might remember last year I posted a behind the scenes of this Arianna Spring/Summer Shoot. Well the pictures have just been released. We were so lucky the day we were shooting this, it was an absolute stunner of a day and the sun was splitting the rocks. I guess it proves that we do get nice days in Ireland but it does feel sometimes like they are few and far between! I absolutely love the african prints with wild zebras drinking water, you only notice it if you look closely :-)

Superquinn French Wine and Food Sale Photoshoot

A little bit of a delayed posting on this shoot really seeing as it took place back in March. I was asked to do the make-up for a Superquinn shoot for the launch of their French Wine & Food Sale which is took place across all their stores from March 28th for three weeks.

To celebrate the launch, Superquinn flew the Michelin award-winning French chef Jean Christophe Novelli over, who had created French themed recipes for them which were all based on local Irish produce.

I was brought in to do his makeup and make sure that when things got a bit hot in the kitchen everyone looked cool!

It was a really quick and fun shoot, I always wondered how they got all those flames on tv…all you need is some oil, a gas cooker and a french man!
