Holidays – What I bought
So a while back I mentioned I went a bit shop happy on my holidays in America. Well, finally I am getting round to sharing what I got. Most of the products are for work, so if it seems like there is a lot, that is my excuse! I will just give a brief description of each. If you would like me to do a full review on any of the products do let me know.
.) Mini eyelash curlers – I got these in Sephora and they are fantastic for getting the corner lashes.
.) Studio & Beauty Acetone Free Nail Varnish Remover Wipes – I had a two week manicure done in the airport in New York, but when I went to Sephora I couldn’t help but do some nail swatching over it. So I got these to remove the nail swatches without ruining my manicure.
.) Back combing brush – I actually bought two of these, but the other one is currently in my handbag. I got these in Ricky’s Beauty Emporium. They are great, because the have a tail end for seperating your hair, you can brush your hair with them and then of course you can tease your hair for added volume!
.) Korres Mattifying Primer – This is a lovely light weight primer for people with normal to oily skin.
.) Sephora Eyeliner Smudger – This is a synthetic haired brush that comes to a slight point that I find great for smudging eyeliner under the bottom eyelashes.
.) Koh Gen Do Foundation – This was a pricey foundation at $60! I had never heard of the brand before and it was new to Sephora, so I just had to try it.
.) Self Adhesive Jewels – I got these in a craft store and thought they might be pretty for something.
.) Angled Eyeliner Brush – I got this in a supermarket and it is fantastic, I use it for defining my eyebrows
.) Per-fékt Under Eye Gel – This is a great product and I think I will do a proper review of it as part of an under eye cream article I am writing.
.) Sephora Bent Eyeliner – I bought this by accident, I thought I had picked up a different brush, but when I got home it was this one. I dabbled in bent eyeliners when I started out and my conclusion was meh. However I gave this one a try and I have totally change my mind. It is great for doing your own eyeliner, makes it much easier without arkward hand angles. I don’t think this one will make it into my professional brush belt, as it has gone straight into my personal makeup collection! Love it.
.) Estee Lauder Double Wear Light – I bought three bottles of this in different colours for my kit, love this foundation for oilier skins, doesn’t budge, but photographs better than the original formula.
.) False Eyelash Applicator – Makes applying eyelashes easier…apparently. I haven’t actually tried this yet, bought it for myself, so haven’t had an opportunity to wear lashes out.
.) Korres Eye Primer – This is not great, used it on myself and my eyeshadow creased and got oily by the end of the day. I am interested in trying this under the eyes though, in the dark circle/fine lines area as I think it might perform better there.
.) Sephora Multi Brush Stack – This is a stroke of genius! It is an eyeliner, eyeshadow, lip and eyebrow brush in one. This is fantastic for sticking in your handbag for touch ups on the go. All the brushes are enclosed, so you don’t get your handbag dirty with make-up from the brushes getting everywhere. It is lightweight and is hardly bigger than a pencil, so can fit in the smallest of bags.
.) Angled Eyeliner Brush – Another one, I just needed a couple for my kit.
.) Duo Glue in Black – Lash glue that turns black, always good to have, but prefer the clear myself.
.) Nars Nightbreed – This is hands down THE BEST black eyeshadow out there, there is a bit of sparkle when you look at it in the pan, but that doesn’t translate to the skin when you apply it. What you do get is a fantastically pigmented truely black eyeshadow that blends easily and has a matte finish.
.) Urban Decay Finishing Spray – I bought a handbag size of this to help to keep my make-up on in the heat of California. It is ok, feels like you are spraying pure alcohol on your face.
.) Boscia Oil Absorbing Sheets – does exactly what it says on the tin.
20. ) Marth Stewart Glitter – I know who needs 36 shades of glitter?? I do! For anyone who knows me, I love anything that sparkles
When I saw this I just could not resist. Might come in handy for some bodypainting or something.
.) Make-up Storage – In America they really know how to do craft stores! I just love the beautiful papers, glitters, pens, stamps etc. I also love their storage! I got all these guys to store some of my make-up collection. I have a really nifty way of storing lipsticks for make-up artists, with one of these containers above, I will show you in another post soon.
.) This is a fantastic deal!! It only cost $54 for 8 Lipglosses, 24 Eyeshadows, a blusher brush, mascara, translucent powder and blusher which all comes in this beautiful bag.
.) Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara – I bought the multipack in the airport and the single one in a make-up outlet store (wish we had these in Ireland). I use these on my brides, so go through one a month, so thought it would be good to stock up.
.) L’oreal Power Volume Collagen Mascara – got this is a supermarket, like the sound of collagen! I am yet to try it out.
.) MAC Eyebrow Pencils – I normally use eyeshadows to define brows, but also like these for finer details.
.) MAC Eyeshadows – I bought a whole lot of eyeshadows and the new clear eyeshadow palette from MAC which I showed on Instagram here. I will be doing a post about what is in my kit soon, so you can see it in more detail there.
.) Ricky Magnifying Glass – Thought this would be handy for making sure that everything is perfect for close up work/HD, where the naked eye might not see what the camera sees.
.) Moustache Wax – No this isn’t for me! I use this for my Film/TV work.
.) Tarte Cheek Stain in Tipsy – This is a sticky cheek stain, the colour is fantastic for everyday use.
.) Sephora & Pantone Eyeliner Stickers – I thought these would be handy for when you are in a hurry and want to change up your look quickly. Don’t think so! I found them a bit fiddly and didn’t really fit my eye properly. I probably just need more practise with them, so will give it another go before I make my decision on them.
So what do you reckon? Is there anything there that you have tried yourself that you like? Is there anything that you would like me to review in detail?
Talk to you soon.
Lots of love,
