Biography

When Emma was six she found the greatest toy of all…her Mom’s closet. In it she found a treasure of magic pots and potions of all size and colour. This was her first foray into the world of Make-up. It has always been her passion and the creative fire burns on. At age eleven, she could be found giving Make-up demonstations for friends with the free samples her Mom gave her. As there was a lack of supplies, she learnt versatility, often using lipstick as blusher or eyeshadow. She was the make-up artist for school shows and at the tender age of sixteen she won a weeks work experience with Ireland’s top Make-up Artist Zoe Clark. Also at this time, she attended workshops in the Gaiety School of Acting and Morgan the Agency to learn about the workings of the industry.

After school, she went on to do a Certificate in Art and Design where she learned drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpting, photography, computer design and writing. This was followed by a BA in Modelmaking and Design for Film, TV and Theatre from the National Film School (IADT). Here she learned the skills of sculpture, mould making, lifecasting, computer animation, stop motion animation. While in the college she also gained a wide and varied knowledge of other creative arts delving into film making, production design and art direction. She is absolutely passionate about anything arty and creative.

However the passion for Make-Up Artistry did not die. While in college she worked on Rte’s “Podge and Rodge” as an Assistant Make-Up Artist. She decided she needed to get training in Make-Up and attended the LA Make-Up Academy, where she learned beauty, bridal, fashion, theatre, television, film and special effects Make-Up skills. Following that she gained invaluable work experience under masters of the field like Kate Constad. She also gained an unofficial apprenticeship in all aspects of Make-Up Artistry by working on many projects for free including short films, television, theatre and photoshoots.

In 2006 Emma went on to set up a successful company called Aurora Creations. It was a Make-Up, Modelmaking and Design company based in Dublin. Aurora Creations worked on a number of projects eg ATA Girl, Skills in the City, Soprano’s Last Supper, Wedding Journal Show and Irish Hair Federation Fashion Show. Emma finished up with Aurora Creations in 2008.

She decided to get some world experience and went travelling around Asia experiencing different cultures and traditions. She eventually settled in Australia where she worked for Estee Lauder while freelancing in the fashion industry. While travelling Emma was collecting information and images for a book that she hopes to one day publish. You can read some of her travel stories here.

More recently, Emma has returned home to Ireland and is doing varied and interesting freelance work, some highlights include TV3’s “The Guards” and RTE’s “The Panel”. She has worked with a whole host of celebrity clients/actors/models/comedians/directors/politicians etc including David McWilliams, Brian DowlingAlan Hughes, Mairead Farrell, Holly White, Chris Eubank, Fionnuala Flanagan, Andrew MaxwellClodagh McKenna, Colin Murphy, Eleanor Tierney, Neil Delamere, Amber Jean Rowan, Eamon GilmoreAmy Joyce Hastings, Dermot Whelan, Rachel Rath, Julian HillsEmmett J.
